  1. No.

My definition of living includes reproduction.  You could say that the Earth spawned the Moon, but i wouldn't.

Could you say that the Earth is aware?  Maybe, but from my perspective, it's just the parasites that are living on it.  And it is they that make the Earth seem to breathe, you know, climate control and so on.

Now if there were evidence of communication, electrical, sonic or something, i might change my mind.

Could you say that the Universe is aware, but it's parasites again.

  2. The Earth itself is not a living thing, but it is host to a huge number of living things...

  3. No.

    <thinking twice>

    Nope, still a no.

  4. Earth is a large object, host to many complex processes,

but it's not a living thing.

  5. Scientifically, yes. Humanly, no. Earth is a host, we live on it, we reproduce on it, we die on it. But how scientist describe Earth is that it was born, and of course it should die, like us. The description of being born and dieing could be thought as being alive. But no, it is not actually alive. But why, because it doesn't think, doesn't talk, doesn't breath, and so on.

  6. No.

The earth does not meet all the criteria for as a lifeform, particulary the requirement for reproduction of itself  There are no "baby earths".

The earth is a MACROCOSM, which consists of all living things on (in) it and the environment necessary to support them.  Sort of a giant terrarium.

But the earth itself, taken as one single unit, is not alive.B

  7. It depends if you actually believe in the Gaia hypothesis.  Then you might consider it living.  Or if you took David Brin's novel EARTH too seriously.  Then you might consider it living, but you would be not only wrong, but delusional.  Unless the world is a lot stranger than I think it is, it isn't living, although it supports a biosphere.

  8. think once..no

    think twice...still no

  9. it's a living thing. some parts of the earth are more living than others. for example humans and rocks are part of the earth, but humans are more living than rocks.

the earth reproduces like cells, but it takes very long time.
