What is ebay's competitive advantage?

I'm working on a presentation about ebay.com.. I'm kind of lost here because I don't live in the US and never used ebay! I want to know from users, or non users what is so special about ebay, why don't you try other websites? and in your opinion how should i outline my presentation?

A frickin' enormous customer base.

And the fact that people can buy and sell just about anything.  You can't really sell a used pair of pants on Amazon.
