I'd like to try eggplant, I always see it in the grocery store, but then I pass it by because I don't know what it is or how to fix it. Is it good for you? What's it taste like? Anyone want to share a good eggplant recipe with me?

  1. I love eggplant but it IS a little weird. It's a texture thing. When it's raw and you cut it open the flesh is white and spongy. When you cook it the purple rind maintains it's shape but the inside gets kind of... slimy. (But in a really scrumptious way :) It has a mild flavor, slightly nutty but definitely not overwhelming.

I LOVE eggplant parmigiana. It's like veal parmigiana but without the meat :) Here's a good recipe:

if you would rather try it in a restaurant before tackling it in your own kitchen. Olive Garden has a really delicious eggplant parmigiana.

Also one of my favorites from childhood is Ratatoullie which is a think vegetable-rich tomato and eggplant stew which is amazing either hot or cold. Here's a recipe for that one:

  2. eggplants  taste unique... it give this soft mushy texture and a little bit bitter taste. but it's good if it's cook properly. you should give it a try. here try an indonesian recipe.

i usually made it with my own recipe but it's more of the less like the one shown in the pic here http://www.keseharian.com/dapur/terungba...

it's translated into balado eggplant (more or less...) it's sweet spicy, but it tastes so good~

    how to

    - heated oil in frying pan

    - fried the eggplant with a little pressure while frying, the purpose is to make the eggplant mushy. fried until it look yellowish and put it aside

    - in the frying pan used to fry the eggplant, add oil and fry garlics and onion until the smells come out

    - put in water, chili, and tomato, keep frying until the ingredients is soften (around 2 - 4 minute)

    - put in sugar and salt to your flavor

    - put the eggplant back into the pan and stir for a while

try it and you might love it

  3. Do you like the yellow or green squash?  It think it is similar to those.

It is different in that it is spongy inside.

You can cut it up and batter an fry it.  That's what my mom does with squash.

    Or

I cut it up in cubes and added onions and spices to make it like a casserole or dressing substitute (turkey and dressing - stuffing)

  4. It has a meaty like texture, I love making steaks from it..let me find the link

this one is very good, and comforting on a winter day
