  5. An example would be a battery that is not hooked up to anything.  It has the potential to provide an electrical charge and a potential difference (voltage) to power a circuit, but until the circuit is completed it doesn't do anything.

    Did you mean to ask what is electrical potential difference?  That's also known as VOLTAGE.  It's a measure of the difference in electrical charge (can be positive or negative) between two points of reference.
