pulsed electromagnetic therapy is said to aid in the removal of free radicals in the body.  Free radicals are particles that have unpaired electrons in their outer shell, but are not charged like ions are.

Unfortunately, like many such modern therapies including pulsed electromagnetic therapy and transcutaneous electro nerve stimulus (TENS), the literature is full of stated benefits, without explaining how or why the therapies actually work.

You will note at the bottom of the reference, the advice is to ensure a balanced diet rather than depend on therapies or vitamin supplements to remove excess free radicals from the body.
