  1. Language that is characterized by, expressing, or exciting emotion.

    Newspapers often use emotive language for a headline in order to stir the emotions of its readers, in this case sadness or sympathy.

    "Dam wall collapses! Thousands drowned or left homeless by flooding."

    Her heart felt like a balloon that was about to explode.

    He looked her in the eyes, they were teary; his heart sank into the pit of his stomach every swallow felt like a sharp razor cutting away at his pride.

    The penguin is a majestic creature it waddles along happily.

    Those are examples of emotive language. Below is a comparison.

    Person one: It was a hot 40 degrees (celsius) today in Perth meaning that the risk of fire was increased. (non emotive)

    Person two: It was as hot as h**l today atleast 40 degrees, it was so hot that the risk of fire increased; felt like i was in h**l. (emotive)
