  1. 'Empirical' means 'tried & it worked'. It is not accepted as 'proof'' but rather it is called 'evidence'. For example, the way to be rid of poison ivy is to give a very small amount of Homeopathic poison ivy 'oil' diluted in special liquid & shaken well. For many people, that will work; for others, not. Harmless to try, if you have poison ivy.
