  1. service engine soon normally means that you need to change your oil or something of the like.  Perhaps it is time to change your o2 sensor.  Check the cars manual to see if it is time to replace it.  It should have a maintenance check list in there.

  2. and why didnt you ask them while you was there how much the part to fix it would be really....oxygen sensor? for..... not a problem dont know a price.... and really a good tune up is in order service engine light means just that

  3. I don't know much about cars, but my advise to you would be to take it to someone you trust because I personally think that cars are programed to say check engine just so you will go and spend a bunch of money where you bought it from. It could be something serious though just be careful about who you get to look at it.

  4. if it does not effect the way the engine runs dont worry about it. Mines been on for months .Still runs fine.

  5. ALL WRONG, an o2 sensor tells the engine control module how rich or Lean the fuel mixture is by detecting the amount of oxygen in you exhaust, so that the ECM can adjust. It will effect you gas mileage, and you will not pass emissions. Not a big problem, you should find out what bank? Bank 1 would be closest (probably just below the exhaust manifold) to the engine bank 2 will be under the car ( probably just before the catalytic converter). You will see a metal sensor screwed into the exhaust pipe with four wires coming out of it. They can be hard to remove some require a special socket for removal and installation. Some of the plugs like GM for example have a lock running through them that needs to be pulled out before you can unplug it (on a GM the plug is usually grey with a blue lock.  And they will run you anywhere from $20 to $100 depending on the application. If you have a garage do it they shouldn't charge you anymore than an hour labor.

Also be aware that OBD II diagnostic trouble codes can report a problem with a component, or they may report an abnormal condition. So if you're seeing a PO130, there could be a problem with the oxygen sensor located in front of the catalytic converter, or there could be something that's actually causing the engine to run lean. The control unit blames the messenger and points the finger at the front O2 sensor. Your

garage should be able to check the sensor's ability to respond to changes in the exhaust oxygen content. So before you spend $100 on a sensor make sure it is really the problem.
