  1. Hi... Engineering has five main branches,Electrical and Electronics,Electronics and Communication eng, computer science eng, civil engineering and mechanical eng.to do engineering after + 2 you need to have chosen science stream in your +2.if you had taken commerce stream then you can't join engineering.the advantages of taking eng. is that you are virtually guaranteed a job if you complete it without having arrears.the disadvantage is ,it isn't very easy to study.i would suggest that you do what you are interested in and not join eng, just because everyone else are doing eng.other branches of eng. are also there.just do a google of engineering courses, you will get all the info you need.if you studied in Tamilnadu you might find my blog useful, http://cutoffmarks.com/ .

  2. well , u got good answers , about  the courses it's really hard ..... a pain up the @$$  . if u are a hard worker & have hi tolerance for long term studying then u won't have a problem.

studying engineering made my life suck

  3. Engineering is mostly about applying existing technology and processes to solve problems, sometimes in novel ways.  Engineers typically are not involved in pure science though they are often involved in research and development.

The types of problems to solve describe various specialties:

Electrical (power systems, electronics/computer, control theory), Structural, Mechanical (mechanics or thermodynamics), Civil, Aeronautical, Biomedical, etc. etc.  and a number of sub-specialties.

Engineers are often sought in a variety of technical applications because we are taught how to apply systematic thinking and creativity to the search for a solution.

As to what courses are required: a lot of math, physics, and hard science.  Actual classes are determined by which university you are considering.
