  1. Green card = sponsorship

Sponship = by relative or by employer

    Requires:

Relative case: file petition +file for adjustment of status= GC

    Employment:

    1. If highly qualified: file petition yourself + adjustment of status- same as above.

    2. If not, file labor certification, get approved, then file petition + adjustment of status.

    I hope it clarifies.

  2. You can't apply for a green card on your own, and you can't automatically qualify for a green card by working in the US on the H1 nonimmigrant visa.  Your employer must petition for you.   Here is how the process works:

  3. You have 6 years under a H1 B...Start the process from a green card immediately.  See a immigration lawyer with experience.  Should be enough time to secure green card correctly...next with green card file for citizenship and never worry about immigration again.

  4. Main thing is that you now have the right papers to be here so you must keep them updated and whenever you move and change jobs,  you must notify them.

Another advice I will give you is try not to even get a traffic ticket since the least little thing can count against you.  Now keep a good work record as well.  Now my understanding is after three years of good status on this type of visa, you will be eligible for a green card.

Good luck and glad to have you here.

  5. Obtaining a green card is rather fast these days since USCIS just cleared all the backlog last time i checked.

What i recommend is to get your employee file for you. The firm has to be basically reputable in the States and be able to show a big turnout. They should also be able to show that they could not find anyone with ur qualifications. They have to post 2 ads for 15 days for your post in local newspaper i beleive and the process carrys on well, you will have a green card within 6-9 months.

There are other ways to get one too, i suggest you go talk to an immigration expert. Most will offer free consultation , i talk to Prime Law Centers, and they have handled my case since years now. Check them out and ask, they provide email responses and never charge for consultation.
