  1. Its not clear from your question. What do u mean exactly by environmental design?

Environmental design is a branch of environmental science which deals with integrating environment in building, landscaping, town planning etc.

But for thesis work, its better to rely on reliable sources having proper reference not just people observation and knowledge.

  2. thats me ,

i  design sustainable human and animal environments  ,as close to auto suficiency as i can.

utilising all  `space and utilising all resident resources,

following and creating energy flows ,

for example, the rain water from the roof of the house goes into a gutter ,which runs through the  chicken house ,cleaning it and ends in the vegetable garden fertilizing it .

in a hot place the trees can be planted to create a cold draft that goes towards the house

in a cold place  a center wall faces the sun to collect heat in the day which it lets of in the night

the stables have gutters to collect urine to use as fertilizer,

in the chicken houses the floor is sloped to prevent death by water,if there is a break in the water system(a usual     ocurance   in large chicken houses),as well as round corners to prevent, build up of dirt to make cleaning easy

    always  aiming for perfection,in design

A door can be opened 50 different ways ,but only one way is perfect for your situation ,just as a door can be placed on four sides but only one side and one position is the best

land should be shaped to be receptive of rain water but draining for excess

,so roads will be hard and raised and vegetable plots will be soft and low ,with connecting gutters and holes regularly placed to absorb excess water --this is called Waterharvesting ,

and of all the rain that comes down on your land ,not a drop should leave it over the ground -this  is called zero run off

in the bigger view ,different concepts of utilization  of the property should be in different zones

the zones/places visited most , being closest to the house

        ,

eg. vegetable plots near the kitchen like the chicken house ,the pasture for the cows and horses further away ,the corn  field, behind that and the woods for the deer  the furthest away

before i say too much these were some ideas that concern Permaculture Environmental Design

  3. Pseudo-science!?...

If your doing a Thesis and don't yet know what environmental design is then maybe you should go back to school.

  4. I think its designing something with the environment in mind. My environmental studies professor has a home that is eco-friendly.
