What is erythromycin for?

I saw my doctor recently, complaining of high fever, cough, difficulty breathing, vomiting, nausea, lethargy, and a headache.

After checking me out, he prescribed me with E.E.S (Erythromycin).

However, he did not bother to elaborate what exactly this medication was supposed to be treating.

Can anyone help?

  1. You must be delirious with fever.  If you have an infection you take an antibiotic.

  2. Erythromycin is in a group of drugs called macrolide antibiotics. Macrolide antibiotics slow the growth of, or sometimes kill, sensitive bacteria by reducing the production of important proteins needed by the bacteria to survive

Erythromycin is used to treat many different types of infections caused by bacteria. It is also used to prevent bacterial endocarditis and attacks of rheumatic fever.

Erythromycin may also be used for other purposes.
