  1. Carob is a mildly sweet powder made by grinding the pods of the topical carob tree. The flavor is somewhat comparable to that of cocoa. Carob is often used as a chocolate substitute.

  2. Carob comes from the Carob tree.

  3. It's a bean. Many of the "chocolate" chip cookies sold at petco stores at the dog bar are actually carob. Carob is a dog's cocoa.

  4. When you encounter carob in the shops, it isn't just the bean, the packet will have a list of ingredients, which need checking out.

Some 'carob' bars have whey added and also butterfat, it just gets every-flippin-where.

You'd expect it to be vegan, but it's not always.

    Crazy isn't it.

  5. Carob is a bean, just like cacao.

  6. Carob is the pod of the carob tree, sometimes called St. John's bread. Some people think it tastes something like chocolate and use it ground up and roasted as a chocolate substitute.
