Fair trade is an organized social movement and market-based approach to empowering developing country producers and promoting sustainability. The movement advocates the payment of a fair price as well as social and environmental standards in areas related to the production of a wide variety of goods. It focuses in particular on exports from developing countries to developed countries, most notably handicrafts, coffee, cocoa, sugar, tea, bananas, honey, cotton, wine, fresh fruit, and flowers.

  1. fairtrade coffee is basically coffee that has been grown by fairtrade farmers.

normally the farmers get paid on how much coffee (or any other product they sell), so if there is a drought and their crops fail, they dont get any money cos they cant sell anything.

fairtrade means that the farmers get paid a set amount, and it doesnt matter if their crops fail becuase they still get paid. giving them a steady income and a better chance of a good life

  2. giving fair price for the coffee bought from third world war countries i.e. not cheating in regards to money and offering a good fair price of what they deserve rather than asking it for far far less for a lumpsome of coffee. They're going to be left poor at that rate if every one does that. It's just not fair!
