What exactly is fast metabolism?

What happens when a person has a fast metabolism? ..... are there any "symptoms' and "signs" by which we can tell tht a person has FM, other than being skinny?

  1. fast metabolism is the way your body burns up all the calories from food. Some people have a fast metabolism which helps keep weight off, and others have a slow metabolism, putting on weight very quickly.

  2. If you can eat 3-4000 calories a day and not gain weight, you have a fast metabolism (or you exercise a lot).

  3. your metabolism rate is how quick you break up food. Say if you just had a very big dinner and in two hours your hungry again, means your metabolism rate is very high (Not a bad thing.) I have a very high metabolism rate and im never full! hehe

  4. That could be just a little confusing.  When you 'fast' you go without food and during a lengthy fast your metabolism slows down to conserve energy (even body chemistry will change).  The entire purpose of breakfast is to break the fast (that occurred while asleep!).  The basal metabolism is a measure of oxygen consumption while at rest (but not sleeping?) and any activity requires more energy and an increase in metabolism.  People shiver in the cold to increase muscle activity that increases metabolism that produces body heat.  Therefore a fast metabolism must burn up energy faster than normal and that could depend upon both activity (including nervous energy?) and diet (fats or sugars, etc.).

  5. if u get hungry every hour or 2...i have a fast metabolism and im ALWAYS hungry!
