  1. Feminist anthropology emerged as a truly self-conscious field of anthropology during the 1970s. (Although, from the 1870s onward, some have argued that there were nascent feminist anthropologists.) It coincided with the advent of second wave feminism in the U.S. During this time period, anthropologists (particularly although not limited to women) began to look at the knowledge being produced about humanity and found that overwhelmingly ethnographers and archaeological accounts had an andro-centric bias and didn't really explain what women in other cultures (and our culture) were doing either cross-culturally or historically.

To remedy this, early feminist anthropologists began to explicitly look for what women were doing around the world (past and present). They also sought to answer such questions as "is male domination universal?" and "are there cross-cultural similarities in women's productive, economic, and political roles?"

This intentional and explicit mandate to consider women's as well as men's roles cross culturally and historically is one of the most important aspects of feminist anthropology. Feminist anthropology also seeks to explicitly explore, analyze, and theorize power relations (including but limited to gendered relations).

Anyway, today feminist anthropologists study everything from the trafficking of women to women's militarization to genetic testing. Much like every field of anthropology, it includes a wide range of questions. There's also a newer area of feminist anthropology that focuses primarily on the construction and expression of masculinity.

  2. it's the study of women, and yes you are wasting time.

anthropology is the study of peoples/society etc.

add a gender and you have your question, all answered for you !

  3. we must look at the broader pix - how the world is imbalanced with the present sys.  2 genders - both completely unequal. its like the 2 wings of a bird.  both must be equally strong to soar high.  so women must take their rightful place in the governance of society.  the few women we seee around the world shows how the world is lacking in terms of participation fr women. those who get into politics r merely copying their male counterparts eg in india, pakistan, bangla and corrupted too.   thatcher was a women in men's clothing.   but tts the way soc is now in.

so change has to come fr women and to surge forward to take her rightful place and to practise feminine qualities tt r more refined for good governance.
