  1. It is Concrete that has  Polypropylene fiber cut about 2 inches in length.  Lots of this fiber is made by Hercules Inc. Fiber Division


  2. Fiber concrete is as its name implies, portland cement concrete reinforced with fibers. This is not new, but back in the 1950s they used to use asbestos. As well all know, asbestos has been found to be harmful to people. So it took a while for them to develope a new fiber that would work with cement and not be harmful. The real strength of concrete is in the bonding of the sand, fibers and other small aggregate with the cement. Large aggregate, such as rock, mostly fills up space and makes it less expensive. A common use of fiber cement is the manufacture of cement siding for homes. This is what the fiber cement in the 1950s was - the kind brittle shingles seen on many homes of that era.
