  1. correct a $0.42 cent stamp is a first class stamp.  or a Forever stamp which is good for first class postage no mater how the price of a stamp inflates.

  2.   Well that is not quite true, the .42 cent stamp will pay for First Class postage until May of 2009, then the rate goes up Again, a stamp marked First Class, but not a forever liberty bell stamp, is worth what ever the First Class rate was when the stamp came out. If that was .25 cents then, it may say first class but only pay 25 cents not full postage. as a stamp collector, se use these old stamps between us to give each other a bunch of stamps on each letter, paying just 42 cents.  So if the date is older than 2008 it is less than first class. you will need another stamp with it. If you have such a stamp e-mail me and I will let you know what the true face value is.

  3. No, they're all one and the same.
