What is flex spending?

I am filling out my benies online and have an option of flex spending on medical and dependent care expenses. Can someone please explain what these are and is med flex instead of or in addition to the main medical benifits?

flex is what you put into it, i put 1000.00 for the year, that is money I think that I will pay within the year for co-pays, drugs, drs. appt., etc.

the company that you work for will take a little out of your check to cover these costs. if you have a lot of medical problems... you may want to invest more $$$. insursance covereage is never fun but good luck and I hope you stay healthy.
