  1. In reality, you eye is essentially like an autofocus camera.  It has a lens inside of it that moves back and forth and changes shape to focus at different distances.  As we age, the lens inside our eye (which continues to grow throughout our life) become more rigid and doesn't change it's shape as well.  That doesn't affect far away vision, but it does decrease vision up close.  As a result, this process make people need reading glasses or "bifocals" to focus up close as they get older.  Although there is a muscle (the ciliary body) that is responsing for the focusing of the eye, there are no exercises to improve it's function.  Hope this has helped.
