  1. without agriculture there would be no food and there would not be any people. Thats why we need agriculture but people are turning good farm land into housing developments. less land less food!

  2. Agri+ culture that is soil + practice is termed as agriculture. Thus activites related to cultivation of food grains on the soli is termed as agriculture or  the science or practice of farmingis called agriculture.

It  is a primary activity, which produces most of the food that we consume .Beside food grains, it also produces raw material for various industries,eg cotton is required by cloth industries as raw material for making cotton clothes.

  3. Agriculture is a business or industry that produces food.  This food is used to feed humans and animals.  Animals are like hogs, cattle, turkeys, chickens and other types of animals.  Once the animals have grown, they are processed for human use.

For humans one example would be sweet corn.  Farmers grow sweet corn, processor removes the kernel from the cob and can it for human use.  Another type of corn is dent corn used feeds in the listed above animals.

As the world population grows, less and less suitable land for agriculture is lost.  Companies like Monsanto are working on ways to increase crop yields to help off set this.

  4. AGRICULTURE

Agriculture, or farming, is the simplification of nature's food webs and the rechanneling of energy for human planting and animal consumption.  Huh?  You may ask.  To simplify, agriculture involves redirecting nature's natural flow of the food web.  The natural flow of the food web is-the sun provides light to plants.  Plants convert sunlight into sugars which provide food for the plants(this process is called photosynthesis).  Plants provide food for herbivores (plant-eating animals, i.e., sloths) and the herbivores provide food for carnivores (meat-eating animals, i.e., jaguars).  Decomposers or bacteria, break down plants or animals that have died.  Nutrients from the plants and animals go back into the soil and the whole process starts anew.

    FOOD

Material, usually of plant or animal origin, that contains or consists of essential body nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals, and is ingested and assimilated by an organism to produce energy, stimulate growth, and maintain life.
