  1. old old old historically old.

okay the airports pretty kewl. i did the military thng and we went from dusseldorf to franfurt. it wasnt all that cold in may june when we were there. but they told us they have cold winters.

2 meal prolly about 6-8 duetsch marks,

souvenirs 2-3 marks, if you want some nice gifts or souvenirs

  2. First of all there are no DeutschMarks anymore, so it will be hard for you to pay with that. Almost every country in Europe is using the EURO € since 2002.

    1€ = $ 1.54

The climate right now is 47°F and mostly cloudy.

Souvenirs at the airpost are usually expensive. I expect them to be like

    30€-50€ for a hooded sweatshirt.

    20€ for a coocoo`s clock.

    8-15€ for a beer stein

    1€ for a postcard + 45cents for a stamp

I guess the prices are almost the same as in us airports.

You can eat at McDonalds or have a "real" super delicious food at a Käfer restaurant.

Käfer is amazing authentic german food. But a little expensive aswell.

As for the airport, its huge. I have never been to the L.A. Aurport but Frankfurt is really big. Good that they have plenty of shops and restaurants and duty free shopping everywhere.

    Enjoy !

  3. There are 2 Frankfurt!

Frankfurt am Oder (former East Germany)

    Frankfurt am Main (west Germany)

    So where are you going?

  4. Eating and souvenirs are expensive at the Frankfurt Airport. The Airport is very nice and big. Right now here is so much rain, last week was so much snow. But it's getting better and warmer soon. The Summers are so far OK but the winter is long and very very cold in Germany.

If you have time, perhaps you can take the S-Bahn, driving underground the airport and visit Frankfurt City and you can eat and buy your souvenirs chipper there.

Frankfurt is such a nice city. Don't miss that.

    Have fun....

  5. frankfurt is very modern city, the most modern in germany actually, in fact, its many skyscrapers gained it the nickname, 'main'hatten because the buildings look alike to the ones in nyc, frankfurt's down town is about half mile in length, and the skyscrapers are only in downtown, not like here were there are numerous high rises outsie the cities, it is not a densly populated or busy city, very nice, very clean, no delapetaded areas, no slums, very nice city

  6. People are nice over there. They have to be. Costs won't cause a dent in your wallet. There are differences between LAX and that of Frankfurt. LAX is better in my opinion.Bring winter clothes in winter. You say you will be in transit only? Inside of the building is centrally heated.

  7. I live in Offenbach which is just next to Frankfurt , it is very nice city.

But you say you only stay in the airport that's a shame , you must come again sometime and visit my country .

  8. Buying stuff at airports is really expensive. For 4 small souveniers and 2 meals at Frankfurt I would take at least 100 EUR (150 USD).

I would wear a long-sleeved t-shirt and a light jacket or a sweatshirt just in case you have to go out into the open to board your plane. Apart from that the transit area is all indoors, you should be fine with a t-shirt or so. I like light long-sleeved clothes when I stay in buildings with air-condition.

BTW, could you please add some more details about yourself, such as your time frame of transit and your citizenship? Maybe you have time to leave the airport? It does not take long to get into town, you just have to use the S-Bahn that leaves from the train station at the airport. If you do not need a visa to Germany and have more than 4 hours between flights it would be worth it.  Food and souveniers are a lot cheaper in Frankfurt itself and you would get a glimpse of Germany.

Here is a map of Frankfurt Airport:

Be warned that Frankfurt Airport is one of the biggest and busiest airports in Europe, it can be confusing if you do not know where you need to go to.
