"Free Tibet" is actually "sending Tibetans back to slavery".

A Free Tibet is what used to exist before 1950 when China went over the border and drove the then teenage Dalai Lama from his homeland. They arrested thousands of monks. Used torture and oppression to subdue resistence to the invaders. They began bringing large numbers of colonists over in the 1990's as Chinese farms were compulsorily acquired to build the new factories just starting to flourish there.

Tibetan farmers were thrown from their lands and Chinese families moved onto it. Those who refused to leave were simply shot. This is still going on and in fact is becoming more frequent as China's need for productive land intensifies with population and development pressures.

The Chinese do not allow native Tibetans to attend University.No schools are built in areas populated by native Tibetans. They are  denied health care services and their religious freedoms are viciously suppressed.

So honey I am sad to say Free Tibet is a distant memory. I am proud to say it is also my lifelong goal to bring that memory back to life.

If all of are really want to help the people in Tibet. Why don't you make a free selection or search in Tibet to hear the local people's vioce? Why don't you come to Tibet to see the real condition in Tibet? We Chinese people want all of you come here to see what is real with your own eyes rather than your westen TVs or sites.

Some of my classmates are from Tibet, they told me they and their families were living as dirty animals when Dala lama was in Tibet. We live together, play together, communicate with each other closely.

BUT IN YOUR TVS AND WEB SITES, I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE CHINESE ARE. I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU: DONT'T BELIEVE IN YOU TVS AND SITES TOO MUCH.

Please don't turn to a biased community to find out the truth. Turn to historians and scholars who only present you facts that you can then use to make your own opinions. Ideally, I would say to go to the public library to check out history books. However, I'm assuming you're looking for a quick answer, so I'll refer you to the following.

All of those misinformed and biased people before me need to do some better reading, especially those that get their information from an obviously biased website like www.freetibet.org, the media, or Hollywood and actually think their information is good.

StellaStar is a real liar. I can find countless falsehoods in her rant above me. All you have to do is study the facts about Tibet's history to see all of her lies. If you really care, you will do that. I don't doubt that she probably visited Tibetan refugee camps, but guess who lives in those? They originate from the displaced leadership of Tibet, who have been unhappy with China since they were taken off their throne and their lives of opulence and corruption. What Tibetan leaders used to do to the common population of Tibet before China was so horrendous, but the West is blind to all the facts of their history. Honestly, all it takes is some research from GOOD sources to open your eyes.

Well if you believe a Buddhist leader is somehow waging a terrorist war with the ploitical leaders - then you believe exactly what the authorities want you to believe.

First - Monks were beaten and killed by the authorities, then a complete media ban went up. Mobile phone communications networks were shut off, internet disconnected. With no real news coming out of the country - you are fed what they want you to believe by censored press funded by the state.

Learn all you can, but don't believe anything without using your head. Remember truth has no reason to hide. - only lies do this.

Instead of improving, the human rights situation in Tibet has deteriorated. As Beijing counts down to the Opening Ceremony, the Chinese government is already plotting to punish Tibetans for daring to call for freedom.

China must not be allowed to hijack the spirit of the Olympics. We must do everything to highlight the reality of China's actions in Tibet.
