What is fruit basket and why is it so good?

I hear alot of hype about fruit basket. I was about to buy the DVD set today but the salesperson said the Manga was much better... But the Manga is SO many volumes and it's not finished yet so I don't want to buy it yet...

Convince me why I should buy fruit basket.. Anime or the Manga or Both...

Both the manga and anime are very good. I loved them both. The manga; however goes into more detail on other characters but the anime is definitely worth it as well.

Fruits Basket is about Tohru Honda. an ordinary, slightly air-headed girl who ends up moving in with the Sohma family after her mom dies. After her mom died, she had been living in a tent because she didn't want to be a bother on people.

The Sohma family is big and they are cursed by the Chinese Zodiac. Whenever they are hugged by the opposite s*x, they turn into their zodiac animal, so it makes having a love life hard.

It's very cute and funny and had a great storyline. It's very touching to watch what they all go through and I promise you'll probably tear up.

It's a really deep manga and unlike so many shoujos  it's not cheesy

Well, Fruits Basket is about a girl named Tohru Honda who ends up living with some strange people [3 guys] from the Sohma family. What makes these guys strange [actually, what makes the entire Sohma family strange] is that when any member is hugged by a normal person, they turn into an animal! So basically its about how Tohru Honda copes after learning this.She ends up meeting members of the Sohma family and learns their ways of living.

It's really funny and it's also kinda touching. I say u should buy it cuz it was awesome. I didnt read the manga but instead i watched the anime.
