Question:

What is full time in NJ for benefit purposes?

I just applied for a job with the State of NJ and noticed that the workweek is labeled as 35 hours. I talked to my husband and he said this could be because it falls under 40 hours and then the state doesn't have to offer benefits. Anyone know if this is the case? Will this position have benefits? I just assumed that it was a 9-5 work day with an hour unpaid lunch.

Thanks for your help.

  1. Ask them for sure. It might be this way as per state funding. Public jobs usually have good benefits.
