  6. genotype refers to the specific gene an organism posseses. For instance, there are genes for black, brown, blonde, and red hair. The hair color is the phenotype. The specific gene the person has for that hair color is the genotype. So if you have only a persons DNA, you can tell what color hair they have by determining their genotype.
