What is going on? Earthquakes, cyclones, twisters, wildfires...?

It seems like its all happening at once....The earthquake in china killing 8500, the Myanmar cyclone killing 28,000...the twisters yesterday killing 22....and the wildfires here in Florida and California....what is going on? I truly believe it's global warming and we are the cause...this summer is supposed to be the warmest we have ever experienced. What do you think?

  1. It is, and it isn't, "global warming".

The main reason we see so much news about disasters like earthquakes, floods, and cyclones, is improved communications. First hand reports and videos from even the most remote parts of the world can be flashed to our TV sets virtually as they happen, giving the overall impression that such disasters are occurring more frequently in recent years.

The human impact of technology and lifestyle, or 'global warming', is unlikely to have so sudden an effect on nature that the underlying trend is noticeable, but 'global warming' is not a myth and in years to come sea levels will rise, regional climates will change, natural disasters will become more common, and humans will have to adapt to a changing world of their own making.

  2. How could an earthquake have anything to do with global warming?  Earthquakes have to do with geology not climatology.  Global warming has not been proven to have any link to storms, I'd say it's more likely just coincidence as global temperatures have barely even begun to rise.

Warmer waters may lead to increased storms, but the oceans are very deep, and take a very long time to warm up.   So that may happen but not for a long time.

  3. have a look at this

  4. i agree with replace...

  5. As a geologist, I can state pretty much  with certainty that earthquakes are not related to global warming, though there was an idiotic attempt by some Icelandic scientist to suggest that a while back.  The cyclones, and twisters happen naturally and are not a product of global warming.  Wild fires are exacerbated by humans trying to end the natural cycles of wild fires.  Habitats are evolved to have wild fires.  Without them there is a build up of brush and undergrowth and what happens is that when a fire comes it burns so hot that it destroys almost everything. We generally don't let nature take its course in allowing wild fires to burn. This is an example of man's interference making the matters worse and it is likely to get only worse.  It doesn't have to do with global warming, either, despite desires by some people to attach everything and anything to AGW.  It is really just a bunch of nonsense.

  6. Earthquake in China. Agree.

The book The Military Assault On The Environment by Thomas Theisman  as well as another book The Last Days Of Ancient Sunlight may be of use to help support the Environment.  Oil  is put to use in wars and does contribute to Global Warming. Also worth remembering with current power of military if there is a Global War as well as Global Warming which has gone unstopped millions of deaths in addition to the 1 million a minute in the conflict could happen. There is a book which has this information which is things are at the point where 1 million deaths a minute as oppossed to the 1 million a month in World War 2 is possible.

  7. This happens all the time.  Research natural disasters, they've been going on since the dawn of time.  Remember 2004? Same thing--Gee we are still here.  The worst earthquake ever was in 1556....

  8. None of the disasters can be attributed to global warming,  we have news outlets everywhere in the world, that with  the Internet allows us to communicate very quickly therefore bringing attention to it.   Right now we need to focus on helping those who have been affected by these disasters and not global warming.

  9. Why do people still use the excuse that we are really not experiencing more natural disasters in todays world...that its we just have tv now, radio and newspapers! ??????

That is getting soooooooo OLD! Holy S**t how long have we had TV for? Radio? newspapers?? A long time. ok?

So stop using that as an excuse that this c**p isn't getting worse, cuz it is.

  10. Though global warming is real and will cause significant problems, it would be a mistake to attribute all these events to it.

Earthquakes are caused by plate tectonics, not the temperature in the atmosphere. Earthquakes have always been occurring. As glaciers melt, there is the possibility that the weight reduction could have an effect on the plates, it's very unlikely to be happening yet.

Cyclone and Twister are complex phenomenon, and scientists are still debating on whether or not there's any connection with global warming and them.

Wildfire, however, would be expected to increase under dryer and warming conditions. So global warming has clearly been expected to increase their frequency in some regions.

  11. I am 77 and it has happened my whole life.

  12. How about global news, Doppler radar, Satellite cameras and 24 hour news channels.  We are not limited to newspapers and radio.   So every twister that messes up some rural farmers fence, makes the news.  every funnel cloud gets tracked, and reported even though nobody saw it.

  13. While bad, the earthquakes, tornadoes, wildfires, and cyclones are unrelated.  Earthquakes are shifting of fault lines and have nothing to do with temperature and everything to do with stress on the fault.

The storms are not an unusual occurance either, the month of May is famous for tornadoes.

  14. Ok, for starters, earthquakes have nothing to do with global warming, see plate tectonics.  Secondly, cyclones, twisters, wildfires, etc have been occurring long before we have been around and will continue to occur long after we're gone.  It's just that fear-based media outlets tend to report these occurrences as if they're something new and we're the cause of it.  Sorry to break it to you, but even the supposed "objective" news is very slanted with their agenda.  The whole man-made global warming thing is a sham and the sooner people realize that, the sooner we can get back to our normal lives without having to obsess over how much carbon we emit.

  15. The Earth. We're doing so much damage to it that natural disasters and sometimes unnatual will occur more often.

  16. Earthquakes do not exist where there is no water. The tectonic plates slide by each other on a lubricant like water. As ice melts there is more water. What makes the ice melt is heat. That heat is not necessarily above ground. It can be the molten core of the earth heating up which would account for the warmer currents in the ocean causing more cyclones and increases in volcanic activity. What makes the earth's core heat up? The sun that gives us sunburn. As far as a warm summer, last year was the coolest we have experienced that I can remember and this year is starting out cool again. I'm in California.

  17. You believe earthquakes are caused by global warming....I take it this is what's being taught in science classes today.  They're doing a bang up job of getting the "science" right, that's for sure!

Earthquakes are explained by plate tectonics.  Their cause is below the Earth's surface, not above it.

Cyclones/twisters are caused by frontal boundaries, and have been recorded for as long as man has kept records.

Wildfires are most often caused by lightning.  They're SO natural, some species of tree have evolved to release their seeds only after exposure to fire.

  18. Same things that have been happening for all of the history of the earth it is just that communications are better now so we hear about quicker.

No global warming has nothing to do with it.

  19. Yeah,,,,where is super gore when we need him?

Maybe you better dig a hole and hide in it, or maybe look at past historic weather activity and see that these current tornadoes and hurricanes do not compare to the ones 30-50 years ago.

  20. Myanmar fatalities may reach the proportions of the Tsunami in the Indian Ocean in  2004. It's just the tip of the iceberg. It's hard to say if global warming is causing all of these storms. Some say, we are entering another ice age and that the sun places a much larger role in climate change than anything else. There is no doubt that we need to clean up our air and water on our planet. I don't think drilling for all the oil on the planet is a good idea. That in and of itself could be causing a shift in tectonic plate activity.  Constant drilling into the crust of the earth cannot be a good idea. We need to stop drilling and start getting SMART about our energy needs and clean ways to produce it.

We have the technology to change the face of the earth now but greed by a controlling few and political bribery keep us stuck in the mud and going nowhere fast.

Let's support our candidates FOR CHANGE!  We can make a difference if we smarten up and vote for CHANGE.

  21. "...believe..."

    perception is not reality.

  22. Find a Bible and read it.  All of this is predicted and expected.
