What is going on? Food/Diet question?

So like in an attempt to eat healthy I have been eating like this (keep in mind although I work I still live at home making it not very practical to prepare my own meals)

Breakfast: All Bran

Morning Tea: Apple

Lunch: Either a salad or a subway six inch

Afternoon Tea: Apple/Banana/whatever fruit I have at home

Dinner: whatever meat my family is eating and a salad

(I have a younger brother and sister and they are very picky so it is usually meat and chips/mashed potato etc)

So first question is this a good diet?

Second: How come i'm so gassy?

Thanks :)

  1. My guess is the gas is from the extra fibre in your diet, which would mainly be in the All Bran.  Some people get problems like this from certain salad vegetables, so if you're eating lots of salads there could be something in them that's the culprit.

It sounds like you're eating lots of fruit & veg, which is great, but you haven't included any dairy products, except for what's on your cereal.  Maybe try having some yoghurt at breakfast or morning tea?

Something else which is good to include in your diet is nuts, seeds & beans, which are a great protein source and are full of all sorts of other goodies that are great for your body.  Try low-salt baked beans on wholegrain toast as a breakfast alternative, or add some beans/chick peas to your salad, or have a small handful of raw nuts as a snack.

Do you eat red meat most nights?  Could you eat fish or a vegetarian dish a few times a week instead?

    Good luck xx
