  1. South Ossetia is a disputed region in Georgia.

Basically many ossetians actually ally themselves with Russia and even have Russian passports

Russia believes it is their job to help 'russians' no matter where they are

of course Georgia believes they are part of Georgia so its been a problem that's been simmering for many years now

Check out this page on BBC for a quick rundown :)

  2. Russia is getting involved in georgian internal conflict making a war out of it that georgia cant even begin to try to hope to win because russia has far more military. people in general around the world care because human rights and the like are possibly being violated and this may become an all out war

  3. Russia is retaliating against Georgia for attacking Russian civilians in South Osettia.

  4. Separatists georgians attacked Georgia. Georgia responded and attacked the separatists. Then Russia attacked Georgia. Georgia has been strong allies of the US. That's why the US is concerned.

  5. becuze georgia has one of the usa main oil product and if something bad happens 2 it usa well get more lower on oil

  6. Georgia military made the war upon Russia peacekeepers, i think, u.s.a surports him to do so..U.s.a and Georgia are evil..

  7. Georgia was fighting some separatists in their province of South Ossetia and Russia attacked Georgia. Russia claims that Georgian forces attacked Russian peace-keepers in SO, but that is highly suspect by the West. The primary belief among most people and leaders in the West is that Russia used that as an excuse to attack Georgia for attempting to join NATO (something Russia was strongly against). On the 11th, Russia managed to invade Georgia proper (undisputed territory). Since the beginning, world leaders have been calling for Russia to back down. As of today, Russia claims that they will stop advancing into Georgia, however, Georgian officials claim that Russian forces have attacked them since that statement was made.

It effects the US because we are a member of NATO. Georgia is to become a member of NATO within the next couple years. Also, Georgia is a close ally. It seems as though much of the West is additionally taking Georgia's side. If this conflict escalates, we could very well see NATO forces (among them American forces) in the region in some kind of capacity.

  8. Why do you think that Russia is aggressor? Visit some international web-sites, you will see photos and videos from South Ossetia, photos of Tshenvali, the city was destroyed and more than 2000 people were killed by georgia
