I know that the Goverment of India has cancelled their notice to take land away from seven villages, which were about 1,218 acres of land. And now the contruction company, the DLF Group has to get the land on it's own. Is the project still going ahead?

  1. However, there is difficulty in obtaining 1,000 hectares for setting up a multi-product SEZ in Amritsar as land is fragmented and expensive. As a result the original proposal to set up a multi-product SEZ may now be converted into a sector/product specific SEZ. There is, however, no such area requirement for product specific or port/airport based SEZs.

proposed Amritsar SEZ may be converted into a product (specific Special Economic Zone).

DLF would set up the SEZ at Amritsar on 1,000 acres or above with an investment of Rs. 453.69 crore over five years from the date of handing over the possession of the land for SEZ. He categorically said the State Government would act as a facilitator and the SEZ would be eligible for all the benefits under the SEZ Policy of the State.
