What is going on with instant chats, having a hard time corresponding, can't find anyone?

I have Windows Live Message instant, and also yahoo messernger instant chats, but can-not find anyone to talk to. What am I doing wrong?

If you are getting into a room you are probably finding a lot of 'Bots' instead of real people.  It takes forever to just get into a room, I don't know what the problem is, unless it's from all the traffic by bots.  

Occasionally I do find a real person to talk to.

I think the whole chat concept will have to change or go away completely.
