i have connected up my home cinema system to my new T.V and when i turn it on all the lights flash on and off once as they should do but then my standby light does not come on and when i press the on button on the remote control nothing happens!!! I have tested the remote and that is fine and i have also checked the fuses inside the sub-woofer and they are all fine too! Can someone please help me, they were working fine 2 months ago when i disconnected them from my other T.V.

  1. In the world of receivers, the happy-go-lucky valence electrons are held back and only allowed to move forward at a slow but steady rate. They are completely controlled by voltage potential and he does a great job, until an outside force, such as a human, crosses the negative and possitive wires that run to the speakers. That allows the valence electrons to run free with no restraint and the evil circuit breaker has to step in and calm them down. Lucky he's there as a backup because he protects the entire receiver world.

agb is right, check your speaker wires very closely and you'll most likely be up and running shortly.

  2. It's really difficult to tell from the description.

It could be as serious as something blown, or it could be a protective circuit is kicking in for some reason.

One thing to check is that there are no shorts between speaker wires (even one strand of wire can do it) ... this can trigger protection circuits.

To check disconnect speaker wires and see if it comes on. If that doesn't work try disconnecting inputs to see if that allows the unit to turn on if something is wrong there. If disconnecting something works you know where the problem is and can figure out how to fix it. On the other hand if a bare unit won't come on you have a more serious problem and should seek professional help.
