What is going on with the US and Russia?

i mean the conflict i saw on the news some tiny country said that Russia had declared war on the US

The Russian government encouraged an area of Georgia to rebel against the central government in Tbilisi.  The Georgian president finally decided that he had enough of Russia (the former imperial power) trying to annex parts of Georgia, and so he sent in the Georgian military to crush the rebellion.  The Russians have responded by invading Georgia under the pretext of "protecting Russian citizens."

Russia has a nasty habit of trying to control all of the territories of the former Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc.  The Russians have yet to figure out that these are all sovereign countries now, and that what happens within these countries is none of Russia's business.  If the Russians invade a sovereign state, they leave the world no choice but to respond.

The craziest statement I've heard in the past few days!

Russia is protecting Osetians against Georgia, who is the aggressor. Osetia declared Independence in 1992. It has been independent from Georgia since then. The Georgian President is just playing a very bad political game, where he was able to gain support of the U.S. (unfortunately). U.S. has some vested interest in Georgia (it doesn't care about Osetia). Russian troops actually happen to be the peace keeping corps on the Osetian territory that have been under a severe strike from the Georgian territory. So, we'll see what happens. However, the bad part is that many innocent people will die, because of the stupid political games.

Do not listen Georgian president he is liar! He said that Russia declared war but it is not true! Russian soldiers saving Osettian people from Geogian agrression.

Georgian soldiers are killing civilians. Georgian president wants to get Us army in this conflict that s why he wants to show that russians are aggressors

russia would never do such a thing unless we attacked, it is just not strong enough to fight us, russia is not radiclal islam..... they dont want to die, they would never use nukes (i hope) because then we all die including them
