What is going on with the car thing?

i live in houston and we had 2 people this week leave there baby's in the car because they FORGOT to drop them off at day care before they went to work. one of the woman has been arrested but the other there letting go? i just don't understand how you could forget them in the backseat and go on in to work for 8 hours?? and how could you not get into trouble over it?

I would think it would be stress. I haven't done anything comparable to that but I have a new baby and I am stressed and forget full. However I do the kind of stupid like throwing away my butter instead of putting it in the fridge. They also could have had an "accident on purpose" cause they are whackjobs.

I want to cry just thinking about this subject. The other day my husband left me and the kids in the car for one minute without the windows down on a semi-hot day. It got me thinking what it would be like to be left for hours. It's no wonder some babies die that way.

I agree- how can you forget your child in the car!!  It's a scary world out there, "parents" are really mistreating their children and should be punished for it!

It makes me sick too.  But I truly think that in at least one case it was an accident.  I think one lady had generally a very different morning routine.  If you are really stressed, I guess it can happen.  It is best to put your wallet or your purse in the back seat so that regardless of how stressed you are or how much your routine changes that you remember you child in the back seat.

Perhaps instead of judging them, we all can try to learn from their horrible mistakes.  It is just sad all around.

People are busy and focused on what they have to do that day that they overlook the child in the backseat.

I am also in Texas and we are hearing about this at least once a week.. There was one in Denton about 2 weeks ago.

It is sad and I don't understand why some get charged and some don't. This newest one is a grandma I thought I heard.

I think about my baby all day long, I talk to him when we go somewhere and everything... I don't understand either. I guess people who have a lot on their mind think they did it and forgot. Some people just kind of do things without giving them much thought until it is too late.

People make mistakes, and even big ones like that. They should be punished, but nothing extreme unless the problem persists.

I understand it was very wrong, but people tend to forget. I'm not sure if the baby lived or died (hopefully lived of course) but the fact he is human means he will err.

People do get in trouble over it.  A woman did that a few weeks ago near here and was arrested.

I can't imagine that I would ever do that, but then again, I can't judge.  You never know what's going on in a person's head or life.  It doesn't make it right, but most of the time, these people really didn't mean to do it.

I hear ya-makes me IRRATE!! I am a mother of a 6 yr old and I cannot imagine doing this. I am from Houston also and its hotter that h**l here. All parents that do this should go away for life!!

i know, i live in Houston as well and saw the news too...i just dont understand how is it possible to forget your child in the car!!! No matter how much stress you have it is not a reason to forget your kids, my first priority all the time is my child

i live just south of houston and have been wondering the same thing. i just find it hard to believe that they forgot the kid was back there. i think that it was done for a reason no one in their right mind could leave there child in a car all day in the heat. it is so sad but aleast the kids are in a better place

i dont buy the whole 'i forgot" thing.

its just a stupid excuse, and everyone should be arrested and convicted of child neglect and murer if the child died.

yes, people get stressed and forget things. i do but ive never forgot my child was with me.

how could you miss a car seat in the back of your car???

i fell sorry for all these baby's getting killed what is happening to the world today their not only getting left in cars but getting thrown out of them and getting flushed down the toilet also getting buried! i think all these people killing their baby's deserve to die just like they killed them!

i have a son and every time i see baby killings on the news it feels like someone just dropped a thousand pound weight on me!i don't see how people can kill another human being that never even had a chance!
