Question:

What is going on with these Facebook messages?

Today I got two messages from Facebook friends forwarding a supposed message from Mark Zuckerberg. The message said that every user needed to send it to 15 friends within two weeks or their account would be deleted. The reasoning was that the Facebook staff could see who is an active user; any inactive users would be deleted to avoid so many traffic problems.

Is this a scam and just like every other forward? Or should I be concerned? I'm guessing some idiot made this up, but a part of me is still a bit worried that I should send it on.

Thanks! =)

  1. only send it to the amount of people that it requires and don't send itt more than once,, i got like 6 of them today alone...

    so once will be fine,

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. Trust me, its total BS. I got this like 4 months ago. And I'm still on. So no worries, you don't have to forward it.

  3. I'm not sure.I have been wondering the same thing.I have recived abot 10 messages about that today.I sure hope its not true and that it is just one of those silly chain mails.

  4. It is definitely fake.

In fact, sending it along is considered spamming and could get you reported to facebook.

  5. I am surprised this is STILL being passed around. Don't worry, this is nothing more then a pointless chain-mail/spam message. Just delete it, facebook doesn't delete any accounts because of that message. I received one of those last year.

Facebook only looks to delete accounts when/if being reported, spamming, violating rules, etc. If they were planning on doing something ridiculous as that, they would post news about it, and you would be receiving an email from facebook.com.

They clear inactive accounts, that haven't logged in after 3 years? I believe that is what I read.

Anyways, no need to worry. Just delete it, and report as spam.

  6. It is probably not real.

I would suggest sending to all of your friends though just to be sure ;)
