In Indianapolis, we have 3 TV Stations Broadcasting in these Channels: 59, 63, 65, & 69.

Now, ALL have went Digital, EXCEPT for 65.

65 is IMC: Indy's Music Channel. It is a Low-Power TV Station. The Call Sign is WDNI-LP.

This TV Channel must be Relocated to another Channel by Febuary 2009. The question is, where will it be Relocated too?!?

So, does anyone know what is supposed to happen to IMC 65 in 2009?!? Will this Station go Digital?!?

  1. WDNI-LP is going to be on channel 19 after the DTV transition. I couldn't find what the virtual channel number was.

    Check the sites below.

  2. Yes, channels above 51 will move.

As far as your TV set is concerned it doesn't matter where the channels move to. The PSIP system which is part of DTV 'tricks' your TV into finding the new digital channels in the same place as their analog counterpart. No matter what physical channel the digital is on it will always be found on the original channel number on the TV. However, for low power stations this may not be the case depending on their license and if they build digital now or "flash cut" in the future.

Many stations have spend a lot of time and money over the years developing marketing and branding for their channel. They don't want to lose that. So you will always find your 'favorite' channel in the same place.

This gets awkward when you are trying to set up antennas for good performance, you still may need to know the actual channel the station transmits on.

The government is selling off the frequencies used by channels 52 and up, they stand to make an insane amount of money from it. Channel 55 is already sold.
