  1. I doubt Mugabe will be forced out of power, if you've ever seen the film Hotel Rwanda, there's a part where a news crew get some really disturbing footage. One of the news crew says he fears that people in Britain will see the atrocities, say "How Awful" and go back to eating their dinner.

And thats exactly how it is, the UN, US or Britain don't get involved unless there's something to gain!

  2. unless there is oil involved then i doubt that they'll do anything.

  3. So send in the US Marines? Nobody else will do anything. Then all the pacifists will be shouting to get our boys out.

How many world problems can the US get involved in?

What is the next superpower doing? China, what are you going to do about Zimbabwe?

  4. It looks like it is a thorn in many peoples tushes, we will have to wait and see if the thorn is pulled out or left there to fester....

  5. He''ll be left in power, the UN route wont work China or Russia will simply veto the motion so unless the US and the UK can lie there way into the country like they did in Iraq, it's stale mate in my eyes ----> :)

  6. The UN is too biased when it comes to enforcing anything against blk leaders, they will do nothing. And the US should stay out of it completely.

  7. I hope the UN keep out of this problem! Why?it is only a problem that only southern Africa can solve!Thebo Mbeki must now declare his intentions!Does he agree and support this tyrant named Robert Mugabe or does he condemn him as the political psychopath he really is!In answer to the question!I cannot see him voluntarily vacating the position of 'President' of Zimbabwe without being prised out! This can only come about by military action by African countries! Then comes another question! Will his military and 'hangers on' accept the decision?

  8. It's heard to know.  I mean we spent so long trying to get Saddam out of power and I think (even though I don't agree with war) we should get this man out too.  I mean they were taking finger prints at polling stations and bumping off people who voted against him!!! Thats just sick!

  9. SAS  2 day op on mugabe . job done . we can all get on with it.

  10. Leave them to it, this is how they do things in africa, look at all the other leaders that are doing just the same as him, some even worse. Stop painting everything with a western brush. Africa needs to look after its own house. The rest of us should look after our own.

  11. no because theres nothing there for the UN or the US to steal and take for there profit...

  12. Everyone's been relying on the African Nations to tell Mugabe that what they don't accept him as the president, but half of them wern't democratically elected either, so....

The UK and USA can't afford to send men to Zimbabwe due to their commitments in Afghanistan and Iraq, but personally, I don't see why the rest of the world can't do something. But I don't think anyone really wants to take charge of the matter, especially after the disaster in Iraq, so I don't think anything will happen - they'll probably just wait for him to die.

But that would be a mistake, because the real problem in Zimbabwe is not Mugabe, it is the people around him. If any action was taken, Mugabe would probably be allowed to leave quietly, but the people around him would be taken and tried for all the things they have done in his name - they are the ones who are really scared, and the moment Mugabe dies, or steps down, they will instantly put another in his place.

  13. Nope because there is no OIL. The international community are not A**** unless the country's reserves and natural resources are of benefit.  Just hope the coutry revolts against this discrace of a man who by rights should be six foot under..

  14. Looking at this h**l  called Zimbabwe ,I am sure many folks there(Black and White) are probably wishing they were back in good ol Rhodesia!

  15. Perhaps the African Nations could get together, and sort out what is basically an African problem

  16. It would appear that Mugabe has no intention of ever leaving or sharing power. The outside world will not do anything militarily, so that only leaves internal solutions.

However, Zimbabwe is virtually bankrupt and when the government can no longer pay the police and armed forces (whether in cash or kind) they will turn on him and his compatriots. Most likely someone high up in the government will see the writing on the wall and set a coup in motion, and that will be that. Another dictatorship, but one that will promise 'free and fair' elections once things have quietened down and the rest of the world will be queuing up to give them money and aid with nary a thought for the MDC or anyone else.

On the other hand, Mugabe is 84 so he isn't likely to be around for very much longer.

Don't for a minute think that Zanu PF is going to give up its stranglehold on the country, if they did they know that they would be buying one-way tickets to the Hague at best.

  17. What will happen is that the West will pour in loads of aid and investment once the President agrees to share power. That won't be too far off now.

  18. Mugabe will stay in power because time will allow him to. The longer people take to decide things the longer he will sit there. In a short while Zimbabwe will all be forgotten, swept under the carpet and put to rest once again while in that country people are being murdered and the whole country is starving. But he is living in the lap of luxury with all he could wish for having ten thousand meals a day while his fellowmen are lucky if they have half a plate in two or three days. Still no one will listen.

  19. Just over two months ago, the UN and Zimbabwe's neighbors intercepted at least one shipment of machetes from China (shades of Rwanda).  Last month, Mugabe had the opposition leader arrested just prior to the "open" elections.  He released him but not until the international community made a stink about the dirty politics of Mugabe's regime.

Will the UN try and oust Mugabe?  I sincerely doubt it.  Based on their track record, I would expect them to now turn a blind eye.

  20. British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown has pledged `substantial`help rebuilding Zimbabwe if democracy is restored.

Well Done Gordon, get us into another economic hole, Mugabe will siphon off most of it into a Swiss bank account.
