What is going to happen to our Military when we eventually do run out of oil?

This is referring to the U.S.A's military. It's a kind of scary thought considering all the things we use oil for. Would other countries try and take over America considering we'd be helpless? I dunno if I'm being a little unrealistic, but that time will eventually come. I hope we're coming up with some kind of alternative fuel source :(

That's what we do and always did for thousands of years. Everyone else....well that's a different story.

Or ones with mini nuclear reactors.

When the oil gets that scarce people will already be starving.

The likelihood is that the armys of the world will waste the last few barrels of oil fighting over who gets to use them.

Hopefully alternative fuel sources will be being used regularly by the time that happens. If not, it's not just our military we have to worry about. It's everything. The US is a fuel-based economy. Every product you can buy in a store uses petroleum in some way, whether it is in the manufacture of that product or the transportation of it. Personally I'm pretty worried about the whole "peak oil" situation.

We've gotten so used to eating fruits and vegetables that are out of season where we live. The only reason we can eat them is because they are transported. When/if we hit peak oil, it will be locally grown produce only.

The US 'Strategic Oil Reserve' nearly equals Saudi Arabia's oil fields.

The US military will have oil long after the rest of the world has ran out.

They make their own fuels. But by then, id figure there would be some alternative fuel source. I know a sub and some ships run off nuclear power.
