I have heard that gas prices could DOUBLE over the next 18 months and even TRIPLE within 5 years.

Do you think this is true?

What will happen with gas prices in the coming years?

  1. we will have to e mail ALLAH to come down for a redress.

  2. DO NOT VISIT A GAS STATION ON Tuesday June 10th.

    Tell Everyone You Know. Let's Start Protesting

    if enough of us get together we can put a dent in their pockets as they are doing to us!

  3. I think it will hover at $4.50 for the next 2 years.

  4. I think it is not only possible but probable that the spike will continue at unprecedented levels because of a few factors: 1) political unrest/instability in oil producing regions;

    2) China's economic boom is resulting in increased global demand; and 3) speculating/trade manipulation/price distortion/hype;  4) OPEC's refusal to increase production;

    5) population growth; and 6) continued devaluation of the dollar. Also, consider urban sprawl. More people live in suburbs and have longer commutes than years ago.

    There is no quick fix to get us less energy dependent very quickly. However, if this continues at this rate, it's going to bankrupt the country and the average people. Because of the outsourcing of jobs, many people earn less than they did a few years ago.  We are in a race to the bottom. We end out in a Catch 22.  Jobs are overseas so people had less income. With less income, there is more pressure to continue

    providing cheap goods. Cheap goods come from the third world.  There is no great mass transit in this country. The fuel price increases causes inflation to increase. So, you will continue to pay more for food, etc.. Government vehicles like fire trucks and police cars and school buses will be more expensive because of fuel putting pressure on taxes.

    And, companies are going to pay people less and less and less.  This country is headed towards a big flush down the toilet called Earth.

  5. They are predicting $200 a barrel by July 4 - that should translate into at least $5 a gallon.  If Isreal decides to attack Iran premptively like they said they would today, gas will really shoot up.  If there is a Hurricane in the Gulf, gas will shoot up.  It is already up 30% from last year at this time, and if that trend continues it will be up by another 50% in 18 months.

    It is going to go up no matter how you look at it, and it is already too much for a lot of people to deal with.  At some point either demand will drop off hard because no one can afford it anymore, or it will really start getting ugly.

  6. Very true. It will continue going up, the golden age is over. US is in too much debt to have a voice.

  7. wow good question the government will either fix them and bring them down or the government will be careless and he will keep letting them rise...it really stinks for everybody....

  8. In the short run, they could go down as much as they go up.  In the long run, we all know where they are going.  What would you do if Gasoline was $10 per gallon in five years?  Well, you have had fair warning, so start planning ahead.  If you have a SUV, your problem is easy - get a hybrid.  If you have a hybrid, go to AFS Trinigy.com.  Just got back from Rome where they are paying $9 per gallon for gas.
