  1. Forgiving clubs usually bigger than standard, they have wide sole (the bottom part) and bigger club face.   I have used Nike NDS Irons, they are the most forgiving club I ever tried.

  2. forgiveness isn't a number.

it's simply a rough guess of how good of a shot you're going to get when you miss.

regardless, i'd go with the x-20's.

r7's are relatively harder to hit.

  3. Well, your question is a little bit hard to answer.

    If the questions is:

What are the most forgiving clubs?

The answer is probably something in a full hybrid set. One example is the Cleveland Hi-Bore Iron set. I've also seen sets by Zevo (at Golfsmith) and Founder's Club (at PGA TOUR Superstore).

You could also go with a Super Game Improvement iron, like the Nike Sasquatch Sumo irons.

If your questions is whether the X-20's are more forgiving than the R7's, it's also hard to answer. There are 2 types of X-20 (Tour and regular) and 3 types of R7 (CGB Max, regular and TP). Since the X-20 Tour are moderate forgiveness, and the regular are more forgiving, it's hard to compare to the R7, which are rated at moderate, maximum and extreme.

Overall, forgiveness doesn't matter TOO much, but finding a club that fits your swing and your game will do a lot more to help you than anything else.

For instance, I'm a 15 handicap, but play the Mizuno MP-60, which are supposed to be a "Player's" club. But, the weight and feel fits me well, and I like them. They help my game. See which one you hit better and get those.

  4. I would have to say the x-20 irons are more forgiving, due to the cavity back, and also the way the club is made. But, I think that the R7 irons are a great fit for a player looking for great height, and good spin. The are probably easier to hit, and you will enjoy the results.
