What is good French cheese that melts in casseroles well?

I am looking for something with a nutty flavor and it must melt well.

  1. brie is the best!!!!  velvety smooth and melts wonderfully!!!

  4. Either a Port Salut or its close cousin St. Nectaire would work well.  They are bot a semi-soft cheese, melt well and do have a nice nutty flavor without being ultra strong tasting.

    Port Salut is widely available in the gourmet cheese sections of U.S. supermarkets.
