Question:

What is good background music for pictures in a video I'm making about my daughter's first year of life?

Most of the video is actually video, but at the end I've put a bunch of pictures divided by people. For example, picture of the baby with her grandmothers. The next sections is her with her grandfathers, then with her mother, then with her father, then with her uncle and then with friends. I can't think of any background music for this last part. I don't want to just have pictures with no sound. That would be boring. Thanks in advance.

  1. I have a suggestion.

    Go to TimeLife.com.

TimeLIfe has the LARGEST music library in the world.

(I used to work for them)

They have music sets from the 1940s to the present.

From Country to Blues and everything in between.

You can actually listen to a piece of the songs too.

Look for any songs about GIRLS.

(songs about Mamas & Daddies too, like "I Love Mama" & "Daddy's Girl" or "Daddy's Home". Grandma Go Run Over By A Reindeer is perfect for Chirstmas pics.)

Then go to one of those free music download sites like WINMX and download them for free.

In fact there are tons of entire TimeLife music sets on WINMX.

You will actually find MORE songs than you can use.

Good Luck and I hope this helped.

  2. don't blink by Kenny Chesney would be perfect:]

  3. its a toughie...how bout "u r so beautiful"?

  4. In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride is really nice one.  I did a similar video for my niece's first year and used that song.  It's very pretty.

For especially cute pictures, there's a cute childish song called "We're Going To Be Friends" by The White Stripes.  More for young school-aged children, but still a cute choice.

Check out songs by Damien Rice for some very subtle, more instrumental folk songs.  Words are sung as well, but his voice is very calming. The Blower's Daughter is a popular one of his, also featured in various major motion pictures.

Another calming song, Come Away With Me by Norah Jones.  For all those calm, mostly sleeping, cuddly baby photos.

Check out a song called Half Acre by Hem.  Also calming.  Gorgeous female voices mixed with calming instrumentals.

Personally, I think the first two would be the best choices for either endearing photos or cutesy photos.  It depends on what kind of mood you want to set when showing the photos.

    Hope you enjoy the songs!

  5. How about Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" -- he wrote it about his daughter, for her...  it would definitely be appropriate.
