I need to reformat my computer, but still have home videos and pictures on the computer that I don't want to lose. Well someone suggested I get an external hard drive to save everything. So I was just wondering when I go to the store which one should I get for an emachine or what should I look into that will help?

  1. Any western digital is good. The size depends how much you have stored. USB connection.

    Good luck.

  2. I think the best place to find one would be Best Buy or Radio Shack, but don't get a big name brand, they'd cost hundreds. Get a small brand. With a small named brand you can get a 320GB hard drive for little under $150. And theirs nothing really into it, but if you ask someone at Best Buy they'd be sure to help, don't be afraid to drench them with questions.

  3. All six computers in my house rely on the Maxtor Hard Drive including the external hard drives. My second choice would be Seagate Hard Drives. I have worked on computers since 1992 as a computer repair hobbyist.

I would go for a 250GB or larger external hard drive. Pictures, music and videos take up a lot of space.

  4. Any USB hard drive should do go for the largest one you can afford

250Gb to 500GB and if you can partition it into at least 3 parts

    1) Videos and pictures

    2) Music

    3) personal for letters etc
