  1. you cast, and reel. Also try useing a minnow w/ a bobber. Remember that if you use the minnow alive that the minnow moving around will move the bobber. if it goes under then you have a fish. [Hint: alot of the time when the minnow is swimming a round alot that means there are fish around, or it's just a spunky fish.]

  2. never walk up to the edge of a lake fish the shallow close to shore area with plastic worms from 20 -15 feet from shore when fishing plastics on the bottom you cast let it sink. When it hits bottom the line between your rod tip and the water will droop (called slack) reel down taking up that slack and with your rod tip parallel to the water slowly lift you rod tip sporadically small steps and then a long one when the tip of your rod is up at the ten o'clock (on a clock) position take up the slack and do it again but vary always it's distance with each step and I am not talking feet I am talking 1" then 3" then 2" three times and another 3" steps sometimes you will feel it tighten down and set the hook if you have rigged your worm weedless because it is a fish holding it. Many times you wont feel the bite but bluegill will wreak havoc on your stepping method so usually I take up all the slack holding the rod tip straight ot the fish and when it thumps down (like it is running off with it ) I rip the hookset from straight out to up over my head and in that one motion hookset I begin the retrieve as well.

  3. Bass react the same as a whole, and yes rubber worms and minnows work. They are most effective in morning and evening, along with live bait and surface lures, while spinners, buzzbaits, and diving lures and plugs are best during the afternoon. As for how to use them, you need to experiment to see what works best for your conditions. The active retrieve will get a hungry bass to strike, while bottom jigging will bring up anything that is looking for an easy meal, including catfish.
