  1. If you mean, what is the "average mileage" in terms of depreciation and resale value, then there are some different guidelines.

For instance, the "average" for cars is 12,000 miles per year.  Many people go over, many under.  But for motorcycles, you need to consider the size and type of motorcycle.

From the Kelly Blue Book site:

"If the bike is a sportbike 600 c.c. to 999 c.c., and since these bikes are traditionally weekend only bikes, you can expect to see lower miles, about 3,000 miles per year. Tourers or Sport Tourers usually see a lot of miles, but these are generally freeway miles, between 5,000 to 6,000 miles per year."

  2. This despends on your riding style, the bike and how well it's looked after. A well-maintained BMW would happily put up with 10,000-15,000 + a year. Regular use would probably be more around the 6,000-8,000 mark. If you're buying, look at the owner and the bike and judge how you think they have ridden it. If it's been looked after, higher mileages are not a problem.

  3. That differs from person to person. I average 20,000 a year

  4. any mileage is good

  5. You put as many miles on your bike a year as you want.

It's about enjoying the ride, not crapping your diaper about your resale value.

If you take care of your bike people will notice how good of shape it is in, and your resale will be better.
