Question:

What is good to eat before a long hard run? ( 5 miles )?

I usually wake up @ 7:00 AM to run, but before i go i need to eat something. It's hard for me to eat in the morning after i wake up for some reason, but i know i need to eat to have a comfortable run. Any suggestions? Thanks

  1. Carbs are excellent for a pre-run meal!! noodles or pasta would be good.. but I'm guessing not a very good breakfast meal lol.

    Try a granola bar, or some bread right before running

    I know bagels can do you very good because of the carbs as well. Also water will help to keep you hydrated

    Just remember not to over do it as well because running on a full stomach may be bad as well.

    But I recommend something light with a larger amount of carbs.

  3. Awww easy! I've been having that problem for a while and just got the perfect thing.  A smoothie.  Smoothies are perfect for before runs, trust me you will feel the energy that you get from it.  You SHOULD NOT run on empty! That is the first a coach would tell you.  Where do you get your energy? From food (healthy food).  The best place to get it is in fruit in the morning but I would go with a fruit smoothie.  It's worked for me.  Good Running.

  5. You should try an apple or bannana.....those are my favorites....but it depends how long you run for......i run for a mile...
