What is grange wine?

im just starting to get into red wines...

firstly what is grange? i only seen grange penfolds and i heard it was awsome and expensive... what is grange exactly?

and another thing if u could be bothered is to give me a character run down of all the different types of wines like a shiraz a merlot a blanc all of them if u can:)

grange is just the name that penfolds use for its highest quality shiraz (+ a little cab sauv) wine. yes, it is awsome and yes it is very expensive! but yeah, just the name penfolds uses, like some companies say "classic red" or "red blend" etc...
