  1. It is very difficult to answer your question - It is like writing biography of a person. But in short I put it like this as we grow bamnana's in our farm..

    1. Laying little plants in marshy like mud with natural fodder like dried cow dung etc.

    2. it grows and leaves two little leaves.

    3. Stop watering.

    4. Let the mud reach to semi dryness.

    5. Carefully apply a round of pestiside in a sunny day.

    6. Water the plant completely ...15 days over now - plant stand on its root-enemy is the domestic animals like goat, sheep, cow. It has to grow around 30-36 inches from the ground level.

7.Follow the above for about 16 to 18 weeks..After that you will see the budding flower..

    8. Tie a cloth piece around it to protect it from birds..

9 As the flower grows and matrues small banana babies will come out

    10. Now you have to protect the tree by giving bamboo a support, other wise severe wind will root it off.

    11. At 20 to 24 weeks you will get 1 long bunch of banans having around 120 to 150 pieces of banans over it.

    12. Always protect it from the birds..Birds will spoil the semi ripe fruit that will be ready for harvest.

Normally our procuring people from the market arrive at this stage - weigh the produce and pay the market rates and pickup the materials...

One thing I advise you "you have to look after the banana trees as good as your baby. If you protect it, it will give you good yield..If you forget it ..you are the loser..

  3. Hi Jamison

As in any kind of farming the work is hard and labor intensive and farming bananas is no different.

Before you can start though you would need somewhere to grow the banana trees depending on how many you want will dictate the amount of space you will need.  You will also need to decides which type of banana you are going to grow there are over a thousand different kinds of bananas, fruit or desert bananas or cooking bananas.

Once you decide on the type of banana you will need a baby or two or more depending on how many you want, please remember, one banana tree can turn in to a dozen trees in as little as two or three years.  Plant your babies in a damp area where it rains a lot or you water a lot, somewhere were the wind won't blow it down, but it is able to get a lot of sun light.  Then just wait till the tree starts to fruit then pick the bunches as they get to be as big as it gets, still green though that way it can ripen on the ground or on the table and not in the tree.

That's it that is all there is to it, oh yea, most banana trees have all kinds of bugs and spiders and so on, so be careful not to get bitten by any insects while picking....

Take care and don't work so hard that you can't enjoy the spoils of your labor.

Good luck and Keep  the Faith....Peace....cya....

  4. when the bananas are small and green they are covered with big bags, but are left on the trees.  this is to help keep fruitbats and other animals away from them.  They are picked while still green, but fully developed in size.  They are then ripened while no longer on the plant.

    That is all i know!

    I hope it has helped
