He will not be buying, he will be given about 1/2 of HASS Racing and be an owner/driver. They are not a Hendrick team, they buy Hendrick motors. I think he is just trying to get more from Gibbs.

I think only Tony knows, but, with his relationship with Dale Jr. and Chevy, I could see Mears being dropped by Hendrick and Tony taking the 5 car. Gordon, Johnson, Jr., and Stewart. WOW! Has Childress anounced a driver for his fourth team next year? I think Tony will be in a Chevy and the above two teams are the top Chevy teams.

The #20 is property of Gibbs racing, but Home Depot can sponsor whomever they like depending on their contract with Gibbs.  Tony's contract runs through 2009, I don't know how long the contract with Home Depot lasts.

Haas CNC is a 2 car team consisting of the #66 and #70 Chevy Impalas.  It is rumored that he may join up with them and have a stake in the team.  I have heard a 50/50 split mentioned but Smoke would probably want a slight majority interest.  He wouldn't drive the #20 Home Depot car if that were to happen.  JGR has the sponsorship with Home Depot, not Tony Stewart and the numbers are leased from NASCAR by the teams.  JGR would retain the rights to use the #20 as long as they wanted to do so.

He could leave but that is yet to be determined. As far as the #20 and Home Depot those are property of Joe Gibbs and if he leave he will not get them.
