I know there will be a change and some tvs will not work anymore. What type of TV should I buy now so that it will work next year?

  1. It's not the TV sets that are changing. What is changing is the way that over the air broadcasts are made.

But the new digital signals can be cheaply converted to the old analog type, so the only TVs that will not work are small portable ones that don't have a way to connect an external antenna or A/V cables.

To keep watching free over the air TV  after 2/17/09, all you need is a cheap converter box to install between your antenna and old TV.

Cable and satellite companies generally take care of any conversion for their signals.

Any TV manufactured after March 2007 for the US market already has a digital tuner so it doesn't need a converter box for antenna use.

  2. u DONT need a new tv for the new change next year. If u have cable or satellite then u have nothing to worry about. if u r watching tv through an antenna then u need to get a converter box to convert the analog channels to digital.
